Happy New Year!
Happy New Year from my family to yours. This New Year’s period is always a great time with family and friends, and hopefully a good portion of food too. While I know many of us use this time to get out of the city for a bit of relaxation, there’s also heaps of great summer events on locally - another reason why it’s so good to live in East Auckland!
Rebecca and I had a relaxing break spending time with friends and family, recharging our batteries for what will be a busy and exciting 2020 and election year!
The Year Ahead
This year, I am looking forward to working hard for Pakuranga on a range of issues, and advocating for constituents through my Electorate Office. I've already hit the ground running door knocking in Pakuranga and look forward to knocking on thousands of doors across Pakuranga this year!
One of the key issues I will be focusing on is the need for certainty for transport in Pakuranga, and for certainty over the AMETI/Eastern Busway. Whilst stage one of the Busway between Panmure and Pakuranga are underway, the next two stages (Pakuranga to Botany and the Reeves Road Flyover) are still up in the air.
This last week I met with the Mayor to advocate for certainty about the timing of these projects and the need for the final designs to be completed so that landowners and residents in Pakuranga have certainty over what this project will look like for our community. You can read more about my meeting with the Mayor by clicking here.
New Members Bill
Last week I announced a new Members Bill which I have lodged in Parliament. This Bill will allow vehicles responding to an electrical emergency to use flashing lights which require other vehicles to give way to them. This will mean faster response times to electrical emergencies where someone’s life is at risk, or where someone is medically dependent on electricity.
You can read more about my Bill here. Let me know what you think!
Support National in Election Year 2020
With the 2020 election date announced for 19 September we have an opportunity to change the direction our country is heading in and to elect a National Government which will deliver for New Zealanders. Over the next 232 days I will be running a strong campaign to ensure we maximise National’s Party Vote in Pakuranga and talk about National's values and what we will do if we are elected to Government. There are so many reasons why the Government needs to be changed: whether it is the failure of Kiwibuild, the significant deficit we now have, or the lack of infrastructural investment, I don’t believe Pakuranga, or the country as a whole, can afford another 3 years with this coalition in charge.
If you think we need a change, why not be the difference?
If you are keen to support National as a Member, or help out as a volunteer in the campaign, please get in touch. You can join online by clicking here, or reply to this email if you are keen to help volunteering. There will be lots to do from pamphlet deliveries to door knocking and putting up signs! All help is gratefully appreciated.
As always, please feel free to get in touch about any issues you may need assistance with, or concerns you want to bring to my attention - I am always happy to help.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and I hope to see you soon.
