In August, I will be hosting a public meeting on the issue of law and order alongside National's Spokesperson for Police and Corrections Mark Mitchell.

In the last few years, we have seen record numbers of retail crime incidents, with violent crime up by 21%, and gang membership up by 56%. The soft on crime approach of this Labour Government emboldens criminals who know they will not be held accountable, while failing to protect everyday hardworking Kiwis. New Zealand has become a more dangerous country under Labour. The National Party takes public safety seriously and will work hard to restore law and order so that Kiwis can feel safe again.
