My Five Commitments for Pakuranga

Delivering the Eastern Busway and Reeves Road Flyover to reduce congestion and improve public transport in East Auckland.

Traffic congestion continues to be one of the biggest issues for Pakuranga residents trying to go about their daily lives. East Auckland has a population of 130,000 people that is projected to rise to 160,000 by 2030, and with that growth our infrastructure must keep up. The long-awaited AMETI/Eastern Busway project is finally underway but ongoing delays to the next stages of the project, namely the Reeves Road Flyover and the Pakuranga to Botany Busway, mean it may still be years before completion. I am committed to seeing these projects delivered on time to meet the needs of our growing population.

Supporting our local businesses and community to recover from Covid-19.

The Covid-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on our economy and the small businesses and business owners who call Pakuranga home. Over the next few years it is critical we do everything to support our businesses and communities to recover and thrive without leaving endless debt for future generations. I will support Pakuranga businesses and the wider community as we come through these challenging times.

Advocating for more locally delivered health services in East Auckland.

Covid-19 has demonstrated just how important our local health network is. With a growing population East Auckland deserves to have more health services delivered locally alongside local health providers. I will be advocating for this to happen so that people can have more of their health needs met without having to travel across Auckland.

Speaking up to protect Howick’s special character and natural environment.

Howick is one of the most historically significant areas in Auckland, offering a unique lifestyle and character that attracts people of all ages and backgrounds. It is this diversity that we are all so proud of, and I will continue to support local efforts to protect this special character and the reputation we maintain to ensure our children and their children can continue to enjoy our slice of Auckland.

Being accessible and available to help get things done.

The best part about serving as your local MP is being able to meet so many people and to offer help with whatever issues come their way. The wellbeing of the people of Pakuranga is vital to keeping this community an attractive and enjoyable place to live. In just the last three years my office has helped thousands of people with a range of problems and concerns and this will remain a top priority as your MP.
