2023 Election - Thank You

What an incredible result for National and for New Zealand on Saturday. The country has voted for change and have asked us to deliver it with Christopher Luxon as our Prime Minister. This result could not have been possible without your support, and National stands ready to get our country back on track.

We not only had a fantastic result nationally but locally too. On preliminary results, East Auckland came away with the highest share of the Party Vote for National, with the Botany and Pakuranga electorates placing first and second respectively in this regard. This is a testament to the hard work of our local volunteers and to the committed support of our communities who have felt the pain of the cost-of-living crisis, growing crime, and poor access to public services.

National did particularly well in Auckland, where we are on track to win the Party Vote in all but four of the electorates, including in some previous Labour strongholds like New Lynn, Mt Roskill, and Mt Albert. We also flipped important seats like Mt Roskill, Takanini, and Maungakiekie by winning the Candidate Vote to elect hardworking National MPs to represent them, and others like New Lynn, Mt Albert, and Te Atatū are still in the mix as well. This is an incredible endorsement of National's positive and aspirational plan to get New Zealand back on track!

I am also humbled to have been re-elected as your MP for Pakuranga with an increased majority, and I will continue to work hard on your behalf representing you in Parliament for the next three years.

A very special thank you to all of you who volunteered for our campaign at some point during the year, whether it was to deliver some pamphlets around the electorate, put up signs, or scrutineer for us during the voting period. There were many election activities we needed help with and no shortage of local volunteers willing to help us in our efforts to change the government, so thank you all.

The next few weeks will be undoubtedly busy. We must still wait for special votes to be counted both from overseas and domestically before we know the precise makeup of the next Parliament and Government. This process will take a few weeks, with the official final results due to be declared 20 days after election day, Friday 3 November. But the good news is there has been a clear vote for change, and National will lead the next government!

Thank you again for all your support!

Kind regards,

Simeon Brown

Member of Parliament for Pakuranga
